Destination communities across the West are struggling to balance their tourism-based economies with other values like quality of life for residents, economic opportunity outside of tourism, and ecosystem health. Gunnison County—via the Sustainable Tourism and Recreation committee (STOR) and the National Forest Foundation (NFF)—has emerged as a leader in this space. But they hadn't shared their story with the world, never mind the local community. So they engaged Buttery to produce an anthemic video around STOR and its unique story of stakeholder collaboration, and develop a photo library to support the program.
Hannah Cranor is a Gunnison Valley rancher who knows no other life than this one. These idyllic open spaces are under threat of development, drought, and many other forces. Ranching has never been easy, but for all the advances in technology, it's as difficult as it's ever been to keep the business and tradition going.
STOR brings together divergent perspectives and finds consensus on incredibly challenging issues, all for the sake of preserving these landscapes, experiences and ways of life for present and future generations. We were honored to aid them in that mission, and will continue that effort into the foreseeable future.
